Library Card
Getting and using a library card from the Monroe Public Library.
Any resident of Monroe, Jasper and Marion counties, and for that matter any resident of Iowa, may get library card from the Monroe Public Library. Persons from outside of Monroe need to present a library card from the library to which they pay property tax support. Two forms of ID are required to obtain a library card.
Your library card needs to be presented whenever you want to borrow library materials.
There is no charge for your first library card. There is a $1.00 charge to replace a library card if it is lost, eaten by the dog or the washing machine.
All library materials, except movies, check out for two weeks. Movies check out for two days.
There is a 3 day grace period on 2 week items and a 1 day grace period on 2 day items. Materials returned after these grace periods are charged a late fee from the original date due. The fees for overdue materials are 10 cents per day for 2 week items and $1.00 per day for 2 day items.
There is a book/materials return, outside, next to the library front door. All books/materials may be dropped in this return at any time.
